Job Title: Freelance Hardware and UI Prototyping Engineer

Location: Berlin, Germany
Hybrid On-site 1 - 2 days per week
Duration: 9-month contract


About the Role:
My client is pushing the boundaries of audio equipment and interface design and are looking for a talented Hardware and UI Prototyping Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, prototyping-driven environment. You will collaborate closely with our team on innovative projects to develop state-of-the-art user interfaces and audio technology over the course of this 9-month project.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and prototype intuitive, responsive user interfaces that enhance user experience.
- Work on audio signal processing, layout design, and analog-to-digital (AD) converter integration.
- Develop compact electronic circuits and components, ensuring they fit seamlessly into small housings.
- Integrate modern connectivity standards (e.g., USB-C) and ensure compatibility with various hardware elements.
- Employ rapid prototyping techniques and tools to iterate and refine designs for optimal functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to test and validate prototypes, ensuring high-quality standards.

Essential Skills:

- User Interface (UI) Design: Experience in designing detailed UI mock-ups and prototypes, with a deep understanding of UX principles.
- Audio Engineering: Knowledge of high-end audio components, audio signal processing, and quality standards.
- Hardware Engineering: Expertise in circuit design, layout, and hardware integration, with a focus on compact and efficient solutions.
- Prototyping and Testing: Proficiency in rapid prototyping, testing, and iterative design processes.
- Connectivity and Integration: Strong understanding of modern connectivity standards and hardware compatibility.

Desirable Skills:
Haptic Feedback Design: Experience designing tactile feedback mechanisms and implementing haptic technology in user interfaces.

Tools You'll Use:
- Design and Prototyping: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, Arduino, Raspberry Pi.
- Audio Engineering: RME Audio Analyzer, Audio Precision, AD converter testing tools.
- Hardware Integration: Soldering tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters.
