Service Description: The Group IT has recently introduced new profiles, namely User eXperience profiles, in the implementation of its projects portfolio to shift from system centric towards user centric paradigm, manage uncertainties of new lines of business, deliver products reaching their target at a lower cost and objectify successes of a product.
To proceed with the project, we need experienced external support in UX research/design. Expertise in the different disciplines of UX design is inevitable, as we require an interface between the end-users and the development team. The external resources are expected to gather and share their findings with the project team. The successful candidate will evidence a passion for delivering adaptive and creative solutions to UX design problems by staying up to date with best practices and emerging trends in user experience design and user interface technologies. The UX resource will be allocated to the Product Line “Grid Analysis”.
MCCS GRID ANALYSIS Product Line:
• MCCS NextGen aims to replace classic, monolithic SCADA application and other operational tools with a modules running in Kubernetes clusters, which exchange data via streaming services. MCCS NextGen Product is divided in several Product Lines, with different focuses.
• The Product Line “Grid Analysis” is responsible for the conceptualization, development and implementation, testing and operation of grid calculation and analysis modules like Topology Processing, State Estimation, Network Security Calculations (static, dynamic) and optimization solutions for real-time and close-to-real-time
• The work is performed in four Scrum Team with a dedicated Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architect and Business Analysts.
ADAPTION SUITE:
• In the context of developing a modular control center system (MCCS) Home (mccs-gridcontrol.com), the Adaptation Suite team provides a system for seamless integration and compatibility with various industry protocols, SCADA system, and file operations. Leveraging the power of Apache Camel in the background, it acts as the middleware that transforms and routes messages effectively, ensuring smooth communication across the systems. The offered products are used by other services and are enabler for user facing modules.
Tasks:
Mission tasks GRID ANALYSIS: (non-exhaustive)
• Lead UX research activities and document it in the Research repository
• Prepare and animate workshops on functional framing, ideation and co-design with business and users, or even on an ad hoc basis for user tests and focus groups
• Collect user needs and feedback throughout the project by implementing appropriate research methods (on-site observations, interviews, user tests, surveys, literature, etc.)
• Create personas through user research and data
• Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success via measurable criteria
• Identify business processes and use cases, define and formalize user journeys or make recommendations for improvement to existing journeys
• Create storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
• Using our Figma design system, realize wireframes and produce clickable functional prototypes with mock data
• Finalize UI Design in Figma
• Present ideas, concepts and design solutions to various stakeholders
• Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers
• Actively participate in broader UX Chapter and Product Team activities such as feedback and knowledge sharing sessions to ensure common UX standards
• Focusing on Scrum tools for grid operators and data managers.

Requirements:
Skills:
• Excellent with UX/UI design for complex workflows
• Good portfolio of design projects, especially for complex software solutions
• Experience with interaction design and information architecture
• Experience creating wireframes, user flow, prototypes and high-fidelity UI Design
• Attention to details and works delivered in high standard
• Knowledge of HTML/CSS; JavaScript
• Experience working with pre-defined concepts
• Able to write processes, documentation and presentations
• Experience within the energy sector and Familiarity with technical jargon and willingness to work in a technical environment is a big plus.
• Ability to work effectively within a matrix structure.
• Tools and Software:
• Figma and Miro: Core tools for design and collaboration.
• Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, PowerPoint): For communication and documentation.
• Azure DevOps: Used for project management (instead of Jira).
• Condens: Experience with this documentation tool is a plus.
• Control-Center Environments: Experience supporting users in such environments is beneficial.

Must have:
• Bachelor's degree (+) in graphic design, UX Design, Industrial or Product Design or relevant field
• Language: German mandatory (native of fluent), English fluent
• Proven experiences in design thinking in context of agile projects
• Strong practices of qualitative and quantitative research methods
• A minimum of 5 Years of experience in UI designs (Figma) for multiple thin or thick clients (responsive Web, mobile, desktop)

- Start: 14.10.2024, 6 months, extension possible
- End: 13.04.2025
- Workload: 2-4 days per week
- Maximum daily rate: 900€
- Location: 90% remote, 10% Berlin
