Developing the new grid control system for a successful energy transition
MCCS NextGen aims to replace classic, monolithic SCADA application and other operational tools with modules running in Kubernetes clusters, which exchange data via streaming services.
MCCS NextGen is divided in several Product Lines, with different focuses.
Grid control is a key capability of grid and system operators and represents the second-most-essential product within the MCCS environment.
The Grid Control product aims to manage all relevant control
commands (manual to semi-automatic or automatic) that are issued to grid and asset components within the system.
That is why Grid Control is divided into two modules that are mutually dependent: Validation and Execution.
Thanks to the modular approach, Grid Control can be used more flexibly in comparison to classical SCADA applications. Besides the control of asset or grid components, the Grid Control product can be reused in other use cases from different value chain segments, such as door lock control in substations or the control of auxiliary components such as diesel generators.
The work is performed in a Scrum Team with a dedicated Product Owner, Scrum Master, Architect, Business Analyst and UI/UX Designer.

80% Remote/20% Berlin

Tasks:

- Consulting and development in agile product development across all phases of software development
- Integration of microservices based on Java
- Development front end components with Angular in a micro frontend approach
- Implementation of event-driven distributed architectures with Kafka
- Use of cloud-native solutions and experience with container technologies, preferably Kubernetes
- Development and independent implementation of automated test scripts for frontend, backend,
component and integration tests
- Problem analysis and debugging of challenging code bugs
- Participation in project-specific, technical meetings and advice on decision-making
- Attending project meetings as required for service delivery
