Financial Accountant - Freelance - German Speaking
Job: Financial Accountant
Client Location: Berlin, Germany
Availability: Full-time
Working structure: 3 days per week onsite (remaining 2 days remote)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 4 months (potential to extend)

As a financial accountant, you will be joining the German financial controlling team.

Tasks:
* Assist in preparing financial statements according to local German GAAP (HGB), collaborating with an external advisor.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes in accordance with IFRS and local German GAAP requirements for their German legal entities.
* Handle reconciliation tasks and support the preparation of VAT and tax returns.
* Perform trial balance analysis of prior years' using databases (a plus).
* Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
* Ensure compliance with both internal and external requirements.
* Facilitate alignment between the local team and the central team based abroad.
* Support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.

Skills:
* 5+ years of experience in accounting roles
* Knowledge of local German GAAP
* Proven finance skills with close and compliance experience
* Ability to influence various organizational levels and communicate complex problems
* Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Navision, SAP, or similar tools
* Strong German and English (written and spoken)
