Senior DBA in charge of production and development databases
As a Senior DBA in charge of the company's production (Oracle 11.2.0.3 running on a 4 node RAC cluster) and development databases my duties include :
• Performance tuning
• Monitoring and troubleshooting
• Disaster recovery (RMAN backups and single node physical Standby DB)
• Space management: Monitoring and Planning
• Oracle patches and upgrades (original system was upgraded from 11.1.0.7 to 11.2.0.3)
• HW requirement specifications
I'm also in charge of supporting the development teams (all Zooplus' systems are developed in-house). This includes maintenance on development databases,SQL tuning , advise on Oracle's best practices and relational databases design considerations.

As part of a two man team,in charge of managing performance on production Oracle Databases (10.2 and 11.1.7) owned by Carrefour Spain,my duties include :

* Proactive Tuning : Monitor and evaluate databases in order to
improve performance. Taking into consideration SQL queries and
PL/SQL procedures,physical design,instance parameters and
Oracle bugs as candidates for improvement. Also, when required,
advise developers on Oracle's best practices.

Methodology: Response Time Tuning based on ad-hoc queries
on AWR tables (DBA_HIST_*) and AWR and ASH reports

* Reactive Tuning : Diagnose and solve problems as they are
reported by the users and the application team.

Methodology: Response Time Tuning based on V$ tables,
DBA_HIST_* tables , AWR and ASH reports.

Main person in charge of the Company's whole Oracle infrastructure for both Production and Test environments. Stanjames is an on-line business, 24/7 and depends 100% on its Oracle Databases.
My main duties on the production systems included :
• Monitoring.
• Performance Tuning and problem solving.
• Disaster Recovery: Backup and recovery (RMAN) ,Standby Databases.
• Space management: Monitoring and Planning.
• Installation of Application patches.
• Oracle Patches and Bug tracking.
• Change control and documentation.
• On-call support.
For the test environments I was responsible for:
• Creation (using RMAN Duplicas) and maintenance.
• Installation / test of application patches and Change Control.
• Helping with UAT and Stress testing.
• Advising PMs, testers and developers on best practices.
I was also responsible for the selection,training and mentoring of new members of the team.

As part of these projects my duties included: SQL and Database
tuning, capacity planning, Oracle software installation and patching, database creation,scripting (PL/SQL, Korn Shell, Perl), developer assistance on Oracle's design best practices,debugging and trouble shooting, writing technical documentation, data loading.

My position was primarily focused on Project / Developer support but I was also involved on
some production activities such as:
• DR Exercise
• On call support (until March 2006)
• RMAN backup and recovery
• Space monitoring
