My task was to design, implement, and operate a cloud-based VFX studio with remote working capabilities. Over six months of development, I built an efficient and scalable infrastructure that allowed for the successful creation of many films using this deployment method.

While the project progressed, I helped build a team that would take over the project and performed technical guidance for them. At the end of my time in the project, we achieved a stable and secure infrastructure with a highly scalable cloud-based architecture that could easily meet any requirement needed to create a variety of movies completely or partially.

Key Responsibilities:

- Designed, implemented, and operated a cloud-based VFX studio
- Provided technical guidance for the project team
- Developed an efficient and reliable infrastructure that supported remote and on-premises artists
- Utilized Ansible and Ansible tower for resource management and configuration
- Managed and enhanced IT resources

Key Achievements:

- Led development on one of the first cloud-based VFX and postproduction studios of a large scale with full remote working capabilities.
- Successfully designed, implemented and operated the Proof of Concept of cloud VFX and postproduction studio.
- Helped build a team which took over the project, allowing for continued development with a stable, safe, and highly scalable infrastructure. At the point of writing we can handle 200+ users without hassle.
- Enabled the studio to handle any requirement needed to produce a wide variety of movies, totally or partially.

My experience in developing and managing on premises and cloud-based large scale studios has made me an expert in systems architecture, resource management and configuration management systems. I am excited to continue exploring innovative ways to leverage emerging technologies along with classic processes and procedures to enable creative industries.

Rendering with Tractor as render manager, Arnold, Renderman, V-ray, Nuke, Maya, Katana, to name a few.
Continuous os deployment using ISCSI boot over network.

Continuous application integration by building our own RPM.

Major role in designing and supervising the implementation of the new datacenter and data and power network in the next company building.
Major role in the logistics and designing the company move with the complete datacenter and 90+ employees to the new building.
