Under this role I worked as Big-Data and Hadoop consultant and expert for different clients in Germany. My work involves, and is not limited to

1. Manage and Administrate small and large-scale, multi-tenant and secure, highly-available Hadoop infrastructure for Teradata Big-Data customers, e.g Lufthansa, Vodafone, Audi etc
2. Install operating system and Hadoop updates, patches, version upgrades and hadoop Echo-System tools.
3. Troubleshoot Hadoop related applications, components and infrastructure issues.
4. Identify new components, functions and features and drive exploration to implementation.
5. Create documents for troubleshooting and routine cluster maintenance.
6. Design, configure and manage the strategy and execution for backup and disaster recovery of big data.
7. Provide hardware architectural guidance, planning, estimating cluster capacity, and creating roadmaps for Hadoop cluster deployment.
8. Evaluate and propose new tools and technologies to meet the needs of the customers.
9. Closely working with infrastructure, network, database, application, business intelligence and data science teams.
10. Working with different Hadoop ecosystem tools including Pig, Hive, Impala, Mahout, Oozie, Zookeeper and also with SQL and Linux/Unix Scripting.
Apart from these Hadoop related tasks I sometimes also involve with Teradata System and
Database Administration activities depending on client requirement/environment.

Since Aug 2016, I am also shifting my focus more towards Cloud Computing, Specially Amazon Web Services and Azure

The core objective of this role is to develop skills/expertise to make Teradata GCC consultants capable enough to meet the growing demand of Big Data experts.

Responsibilities include:

1. Documentation and research of Teradata Aster and Hadoop services and best practices.
2. Maintaining a knowledge library for the group for current and future team members.
2. Creating and maintaining a test / workshop environment for learning activities.
3. Defining Curricula for different levels of knowledge and expertise (containing the relevant definition and trainings required). This also require to evaluate the individuals for certain level.
4. Conducting knowledge sessions, individual mentoring, OJTs etc, objectively i.e; Helping junior consultants to gain more knowledge and move to next level.
5. Evaluating new and upcoming Teradata products/features related to Teradata Aster, Big Data and Hadoop.
6. Creating and identifying training and learning opportunities featuring Teradata Aster, Big Data and Hadoop.
7. Providing a technical discussion platform.
8. Gaining higher grounds in Teradata Aster, Big Data and Hadoop related knowledge as a group.

My responsibilities included Teradata system administration and DBA tasks for LähiTapiola Data Warehouse at Finland. Besides I was also responsible for managing and administrating Teradata off-shore services for LahiTapiola..
My performance resulted in lot of appreciations and recognition from customer (i.e LahiTapiola) resulting in more business for Teradata.
