• Have been part of a team that has deployed an insurance core software for MSV Life p.l.c. which is the leading provider of life insurance protection, long term savings and retirement planning in Malta. Use of TOAD to program in ORACLE PL/SQL the business logic and cover the gaps to adjust the product to fit the customer needs. In the case of Malta:
o I had developed the commission’s module in order to pay the brokers according to the premium amount that they were selling.
o A new module to accept payments at the front desk and process payment files that are sent by different banks.
o Helped with the integration of a third party application to fill questionnaires during the underwriting stage.
• Gathered and analyzed requirements. Used also an agile methodology to break up the requirements and tools like TRELLO to organize the work. Design of database schema design, processes and flow of information.
• Level C interaction. Meetings with senior authorities and with the steering committee to check on project program.
• Written down functional documents that will be later forwarded to programmers.
• Sent work and coached programmers overseas. This involves having meetings with programmers overseas (in Colombia) and point them to the right path as well as giving feedback and checking together their tasks and the code they had written in Java using Eclipse or in ORACLE PL/SQL using the TOAD OR SQLDEVELOPER.
• Tuned Oracle SQL sentences (PL/SQL) to improve performance on existing processes. Check source code of different processes and trying to isolate blocks of code that need to be optimized, this include checking on query execution plans, indexes, hints and parallel execution. In the case of Liberty Colombia checked and improved different queries that extracted data that was dumped in files and transferred to SAP.
• Analysis, problem isolation and patch developing for daily incidents. Use of Mantis or Jira to track and give solutions to the different incidents. Replicate bugs, look into logs and give solutions to bugs.
• Given technical support and training to users. After developing different modules arrange meetings with users to teach them how to use the recently developed software and always empathizing with the users.
• Have been part of a team that developed the accountancy module for Liberty insurance company in Colombia. Write tuned SQL sentences to extract accountancy data to be loaded in another system.
• Maintenance to the Java code. Use of Eclipse to check on bugs on the Java code.
